WILLIAM MURPHY NANCE Senior Monday, October 10, 1966 / Tuesday, October 11, 1966 Chesapeake - Age 48, of 10 Holly Road, died Saturday, October 8, 1966 at 7:25 pm in a Portsmouth hospital after a short illness. A native of Raleigh, NC, he was a son of EVANDER T. and Mrs. VERGIE MURPHY NANCE of Raleigh and the husband of Mrs. KATHRYN H. NANCE. He was an auto salesman for Perry Buick in Norfolk and member of Cradock Methodist Church. Besides his widow and parents, surviving are 2 daughters, Miss PATRICIA KAY NANCE and Miss JO ANN NANCE; a son, WILLIAM M. NANCE JR, all of Chesapeake; 2 brothers, PHILLIP NANCE of Raleigh and E.T. NANCE of Atlanta and a grandson. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 11, 1966 at 11 am in Snellings Funeral Home with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
STONEVILLE, N.C. -- Gracie Dell Nance Shelton, 89, of 2852 Anglin Mill Road, Stoneville, died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999, at Morehead Memorial Hospital in Eden. She was born in Rockingham County to the late Katie Dell Carter Nance and James Hardin Nance, and was preceded in death by her husband, Buford Ernest Shelton; a daughter, Katie Shelton Hundley; six brothers, Willie, Frank, Martin, Otis, Worley and Homer Nance; and a sister, Claudie Curry. She was a member of Christian View Pentecostal Holiness Church and taught the Primary Sunday School class for several years. Surviving are five sons, Jimmie F. Shelton, J. Billy Shelton, Ernest B. Shelton, David M. Shelton and M. Gary Shelton, all of Stoneville; five daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Lorene S.) Jarrett of Collinsville, Va., Mrs. Kermit (Lena S.) Whitlow of Ridgeway, Va., Mrs. Colon B. (Pearl "Billie") Bowman of Charlotte, Ruby S. Crowder of Eden and Linda K. Shelton of Stoneville; a brother, Jamie Nance of Stoneville; one sister, Rosie Martin of Sandy Ridge; 36 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. The funeral wil be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Christian View Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial will follow in the Sandy Ridge Presbyterian Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Colonial Funeral Home, 127 Ellisboro Road, Madison, from 7 to 9 p.m. today. WYATT ELLISON NANCE, 77, formerly of Charlotte, died Saturday, February 8, 2003 at his residence in Jackson Springs, NC. He was born January 27, 1926 in Lexington, NC to Justus F. and Odessa Nance. He served as a Marine in the Sixth Division in the South Pacific in World War II and retired as a rural mail carrier. Survivors are wife, Ruby Poole Nance, daughter, Susan Nance Willyard and husband, Ronnie Willyard of Charlotte, son, Stephen Wyatt Nance and wife, Lynn of Ellerbe, NC, grandchildren, Sabrina and Nicholas Nance, sisters, Dorothy Morgan of Charlotte, and Anna Fisher of Memphis, TN. Memorial service is Saturday, February 15 at 11:00 AM at Marcus United Methodist, Jackson Springs, NC. Interment church cemetery.
