Webster County - Obituary
Mrs. Blanche NANCE, 64, of Newburgh, Ind., formerly of Onton, died at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville. Surviving are the husband, Henry; five sons, Allen of Sacramento, Calif., Henry, Jr., of St. Louis, Mo., Maxie of Wilmington, Calif., Wilford and Gaythel of Newburgh; a daughter, Mrs. Wanda McCORMICK of Pacific, Mo.; a brother, Vinil ASHBY of Logansport, Ind.; and three sisters, Mrs. Postal EMBRY and Mrs. Myrtle RAMSEY of Newburgh, and Mrs. Vessie SMITH of Sebree. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Methodist Church in Onton. Burial was in Onton Cemetery. Providence Journal-Enterprise, Thursday, November 22, 1961.
Mrs. Edith NANCE, 85, of Slaughters, died at 4:15 p.m. Thursday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. William KUNTZ, in Dixon. Besides Mrs. Kuntz she is survived by three other daughters, Mrs. Coleman EASTWOOD and Mrs. Nelia TOWNSEND of Slaughters, and Mrs. William SLATON of Madisonville; a son, R.T. Nance of Slaughters; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Methodist Church in Slaughters, with the Rev. A.N. YANCEY, the Rev. L.F. PIERCY, and the Rev. J.E. HARTFORD officiating. Burial was in Slaughters cemetery. Providence Journal-Enterprise, Thursday, August 25, 1955 . Compiler's note: Edith Nance's stone in Slaughters Cemetery reads "Edith Nance, w/o J.A., 1870-1955." Buried next to her is J.A. Nance, 1861-1928.
John Mack NANCE, Jr., two-day-old son of Mr. and Mrs. John Nance of Slaughters, died July 1 at Hopkins County Hospital in Madisonville. Graveside rites were conducted at Onton cemetery by the Rev. T.O. KYLE. Besides the parents, a brother, Phillip, survives. Providence Journal-Enterprise, Thursday, July 14, 1955.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lockie PARKER NANCE, 80, prominent Slaughters woman, were conducted at the home Sunday afternoon. The Rev. H.B. SELF, of Grove Center, officiated and burial was in Slaughters cemetery. Mrs. Nance had been in declining health for some time, but critically ill for only a few days in Hopkins County Hospital in Madisonville where she died Friday. A native of Webster county, Mrs. Nance was the daughter of Delia Ruby and George Parker, and the widow of I.G. Nance, who died eight years ago. She was a devoted member of the Slaughters Christian Church. Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. D.C. SPICKARD, of Atlanta, Ga., Mrs. Elbert COFFMAN and Mrs. William BENTLING, of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. C.H. RANES, Misses Clyde and Ruth Nance of Slaughters; one son, Iley G. Nance, Detroit, Mich.; several grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. J.L. HANCOCK, Madisonville, and Mrs. J.R. MILLER of Hazel; and one brother, O.H. Parker, Madisonville. Thomas F. NANCE, 76, former resident of Dixon, died Friday at 2:30 a.m. in his home in Evansville following an illness of more than a year. Mrs. Nance preceded him in death a little more than four months. Surviving are one son, Coleman Nance, Vincennes, Ind.; three daughters, Mrs. Allyne MARKS of Madisonville, Miss Willie Nance of Evansville, and Mrs. F.D. PATRICK of Citronelle, Ala.; one brother, Ed Nance of Slaughters, and one sister, Mrs. Sally COUCH of Indianapolis, Ind. Funeral services and burial were in the Dixon cemetery at 11:30 a.m. Sunday. Mrs Ina NANCE, 72, Dies Today
Mrs Ina Mae Nance, 72, died at 2:35 am today at the District I
State TB Hospital here. She had been a patient at the hospital since
December 17, 1962. She was the widow of the late Willis Nance, who
died in January, 1939. She was a member of the Oakley Home General
Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, Eugene Nance, Nebo route 2; a grandson,
Michael Nance, also of Nebo route 2; a sister, Mrs Delbert Loughary,
Nebo route 2; and a brother, J W Carnal, 305 Sugg street, Madisonville.
Funeral services have been set for 2 pm Tuesday at Oakley Home
Church with the pastor, the Rev. Thomas Wilson, officiating, assisted
by the Rev. Roy Ridenour, pastor of Concord General Baptist Church.
Burial will be in Oakley Home Cemetery.
The body was taken from Harris Funeral Home to the Loughary home
at 1 pm today to await the funeral hour.
Rites For Mrs Nance Tuesday
Funeral services for Mrs Ina Mae Nance were conducted Tuesday
afternoon at Oakley Home Church with the Rev. Thomas Wilson, pastor,
officiating, assisted by the Rev. Roy Ridenour. Burial was in Oakley
Home Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Clifford Curneal, Thurman Nance, Cleatus Wilson,
Jack Wilson, Cecil Lamb, and Ray Hudson.
Mrs Nance, 72, died at 2:35 am Monday in the TB Hospital at
Madisonville. She had been a patient at the hospital since December,
1962. She was the widow of the late Willis Nance, who preceded her in
death in January, 1939.
Harris Funeral Home was in charge.
Basil Henry NANCE Former Slaughters Man Dies Monday
Basil Henry Nance, 54, native of Slaughters, died at 7 p.m. Monday in the home of his sister, Mrs. Dexter Gill, in Earlington, following six months' illness of a heart condition.
He was watchman for the L&N railroad at Evansville, having been with L&N since 1913.
Surviving are the mother, Mrs. Morgan Nance, and the sister, both of Earlington.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Earlington Methodist church, with the Rev. Rupert Utley, Madisonville, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Frank Cox, Earlington.
Burial was in Slaughters cemetery.

Mrs Elnora NANCE Dies Near Hanson
Mrs Elinora Virginia Nance, 74, died at 6:30 pm Sunday in the home
of her daughter, Mrs Ed Forker, near Hanson, whom she had been visiting
six weeks when stricken by illness. Surviving are the husband, C I Nance,
Nebo rfd 2; two sons, Thurman Nance, Lemon Nance, Nebo; four daughters,
Mrs Claude Joyner, Nebo; Mrs Larry Jones, Slaughters; Mrs Babe Pick,
Providence, and Mrs Forker; four brothers, W E Trice, John Trice, James
Trice and Tommy Trice, all of Nebo; three sisters, Mrs Yancy Pate, Nebo;
Misses Susie and Mattie Trice, Nebo; thirteen grandchildren and two great
grand-children. Funeral will be conducted at Oklahome church, and Rev.
C J Carroll will officiate. Burial site is to be selected.
